Aspen

Aspen
Aspen is one of my favorite places to ski.  Not only are there three really great mountains that I love to alternate skiing when we are there, (Aspen Highlights, my favorite; Ajax - or Aspen Mountain as it's now called; and Snowmass, which has so much terrain you can't ski it all) but it's also a real town with so much to do. Nothing quite prepares one for seeing the pyramids for the first time. Continue reading

Croatia & Slovenia

Croatia & Slovenia
We were lucky enough to join friends on a bike trip (organized through Backroads) through Slovenia and Croatia in the fall, which is a beautiful time to see the countries. Continue reading

Tanzania
Landing in Tanzania was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. The vastness of it and the particular smell of the wide-open plains is extraordinary.   Continue reading

40 Hours in L.A. during the Holidays

40 Hours in L.A. during the Holidays
Last summer, our amazing nanny Meg moved to LA.  She has been with us since as far back as the twins can remember, and even after my kids went to school full time, and Meg got a full-time job at our pre-school, she still came for dinner almost every Tuesday and would help out on trips. We love her like part of our family, and I just couldn’t stand that we wouldn’t see her for almost a year. Continue reading

South of France: Part 2
If you can time a visit to Cannes just right, the fireworks festival is twice a month in the summer, and just fabulous.  We planned this excursion to actually spend the night at the Carlton for a fun “staycation” and we could see the show from our rooms in our pajamas!   Continue reading

South of France: Part 1

South of France: Part 1
Anyone who knows me knows I love to travel! And my favorite traveling is not seeing museums and tourist spots- but to actually just live and experience the place, the people, the food, the culture- just take a break and actually enjoy BEING in another place. That’s my favorite kind of vacation. Continue reading

Amalfi Coast

Amalfi Coast
For a really special occasion, book the private terrace at Monastero Santa Rosa in Amalfi, which may be the most striking location for a hotel I have ever seen.  The monastery is hundreds of years old and looks as if it is falling into the sea off the cliff.  I have no idea how anyone could have built anything like it- it is breathtaking!
